June 09, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich have officially announced the acquisition of midfielder, Konrad Laimer, from RB Leipzig on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old player had been sought after by English Premier League teams last year as his contract with Leipzig approached its expiration. However, Bayern expressed their interest early on and remained confident in securing the services of the Austrian international, leading to the finalisation of the deal after months of speculation.
Expressing his elation, Laimer remarked: “It’s a dream come true for me. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I will give everything for the club and the fans. FC Bayern always has the highest goals – just like me. I’m in the right place here. I’m only capable of giving 100%, and that’s what I’ll put into every training session from day one. I can hardly wait.” Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen also shared his delight: “We are delighted to have signed Konrad Laimer. Laimer’s arrival marks Bayern’s initial signing for the summer transfer window and under the leadership of new manager Thomas Tuchel. The club is reportedly eyeing a new striker to bolster their attacking prowess, with Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt emerging as a probable target. Despite initial speculation surrounding Tottenham’s Harry Kane, his price tag is expected to be too steep for the Bavarian giants.
Interestingly, Muani has recently hinted at a potential move to the EPL, keeping interested English clubs on their toes. Additionally, Bayern right-back Benjamin Pavard, who has one year remaining on his contract, has expressed his desire to depart from the German side, possibly indicating a move to England.
