July 29, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich, on Saturday, announced that talks are underway regarding a potential club change for Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane.
The serial German champions excluded Mane from a friendly match, citing contract negotiations as the reason for his absence. Media reports monitored by THEWILL suggest that Mane might be joining Al Nassr in the cash-rich Saudi league, making him the latest high-profile player to make such a move. The 31-year-old former Liverpool star’s time at Bayern has seen ups and downs, and it appears that he will be departing the club with two full years remaining on his contract.
During his six-season stint with Liverpool, Mane achieved significant success, winning the UEFA Champions League and English Premier League. A pivotal part of Jurgen Klopp’s formidable attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, Mane’s talents were highly regarded. However, his transition to Bayern in 2022 has not gone as smoothly, marked by an injury that put his season on hold.
Although he returned to the team in 2023, his struggles persisted, culminating in an on-field altercation with teammate Leroy Sane after a UCL loss to Manchester City. The club imposed a fine of approximately €350 on Mane and suspended him for one match as a consequence.
With a modest tally of 12 goals in 38 games across all competitions, Mane’s performance at Bayern fell short of expectations. Now, the seasoned footballer looks set to bid farewell to the Bavarian club, seeking new opportunities elsewhere. Al Nassr seems to be the likely destination, following their successful summer of big-name transfers.
