June 27, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich have officially presented a formal offer for Tottenham Hotspur’s star striker, Harry Kane, as the German champions actively pursue their search for a new forward this summer.
The bid put forward by Bayern amounts to €70 million, with additional add-ons included. The 29-year-old England captain is currently in the final year of his contract with the English Premier League club. Kane has long been on the radar of Manchester United, with previous manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, expressing interest, while the current boss, Erik ten Hag, also holds admiration for the prolific striker.
Real Madrid’s Head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, had reportedly expressed a desire to sign Kane during a significant transfer discussion with the club’s board. Spurs’ negotiations regarding Kane’s contract were postponed last season, as the player focused on helping the club secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately, Spurs endured a turbulent campaign and finished in eighth place, missing out on European football entirely.
Despite the team’s struggles, Kane had an exceptional season, surpassing Jimmy Greaves to become Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer in February. He also became England’s highest-scoring player the following month. Kane’s performance throughout the season was particularly noteworthy, as he consistently outperformed expectations, exceeding his non-penalty expected goals (xG) tally by more than any other player.
With 30 goals in the just-concluded season, Kane would have won the EPL golden boot in each of the last four seasons if not for the remarkable performances of Manchester City’s record-breaking goal-scorer, Erling Haaland.
