Gravenberch, Mazraoui

April 06, (THEWILL) – Bavarian giants Bayern Munich are closing in on completing a double-swoop for Ajax duo Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui.

Both players have been significant components of Erik Ten Hag’s team this season, helping the Eredivisie holders win all of their Champions League group games before being knocked out by Benfica in the last-16 stage.

Mazraoui’s contract with the club expires at the conclusion of the 2021/2022 season, and he appeared to be on his way to Barcelona on a free transfer. However, recently Bayern Munich has supplanted La Blaugrana in the hunt for his signature.

Die Roten is also interested in signing Sergino Dest, who Barcelona is hoping to offload this summer, so this is a double blow for the La Liga club.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is also close to completing a deal for Gravenberch. Manchester United and Juventus have both expressed interest in the 19-year-old, but neither club made an official approach.

Gravenberch’s current contract expires at the end of next season, and Ajax are asking for €30 million for him. Bayern Munich is hoping to complete a deal for €25 million, with some opportunity to negotiate add-ons.

If the two decide to start their careers in Bavaria next season, they will be joining a team that is already stuffed to the rafters with talent. This season, Julian Nagelsmann’s side appears to be on track to win the Bundesliga for the 10th consecutive time and remain in contention for the Champions League as well.
