October 25, (THEWILL) – Benue State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity and the Centre for Strategic Enterprise Development (CSED), are partnering in the area of training and empowerment in filmmaking for youths in the State.
The team from CSED, led by the Nigeria Country Director, ID Freeman, said they were in the state to formally present the proposal and draft a Memorandum of Understanding to the Commissioner for deliberation and consideration.
He explained that the Benue State New Generation of Nollywood Producers Prize covering Film, Media & Skit Business Training, Competition for Creatives, Multi-stakeholders event for investors interested in the Benue Creative Industry and Investors Guarantee Scheme is the thrust of the conversation between the two parties.
According to the Country Director, the proposed project had the potential to directly employ about two thousand youths to be drawn from across the council wards in the state.
He acknowledged Governor Alia for creating the enabling environment in Benue State for the business of film to thrive.
Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity, Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange, who was represented at the ceremony by the Permanent Secretary, Mr John Akume, commended the team for the initiative to empower youths and the choice of Benue state.
The Commissioner pointed out that CSED’s initiative was in line with the Governor Alia administration’s policy thrust, assuring that the request will be given adequate attention in order for youths of the state to enjoy its benefits.
The meeting which was facilitated by the Consultant to Benue State Government on Film Development, Amb. David-AllGreen Fiase, was attended by the Director of Creativity, Mrs Grace Wata Tachia and that of Planning & Statistics, Mr Apaa Iorember Joseph.
Others were the Director of sports, Mr Emmanuel Ichul; the Director of Youth, Mrs Comfort Tsa; the Director of Accounting, Mrs Ayanmekaa; the Director of Legal, Barr Terwase Alashi, and Benue State Focal Person for CSED, Comrade Dooyum Naadzenga.
