October 07, (THEWILL) – Simone Biles, the American gymnastics superstar, made a triumphant return to competition on Friday by winning the women’s all-around title at the world championships in Antwerp. This was Biles’ first major competition since taking a two-year break following her withdrawal from several events at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 26-year-old put on a dominant performance to claim her 21st world title, ten years after she won her first world all-around gold in Antwerp as a teenager. Biles scored 58.399 points to finish comfortably ahead of defending champion Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, who took silver with 56.766 points. America’s Shilese Jones claimed the bronze medal with 56.332 points.

Friday’s clinical performance suggests Biles is back to her best ahead of what is likely to be her final Olympics next year. She will now turn her attention to Saturday’s apparatus finals as she targets more gold in Antwerp.
