SAN FRANCISCO, December 24, (THEWILL) – Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Makalama, a village in Gatamwarwa ward, Chibok local government area of Borno state.
This is coming barely two months after the insurgents attacked Mifa, also in Chibok, killing the village head.
They came in the night (Sunday) through the nearby deserted Gogumdi village and started shooting as people ran to the bushes.
Makalama is about 21 kilometres away from Chibok town.
“Most of the villagers are farmers who are in the harvest period. The insurgents came in and started shooting and when villagers ran inside the bush, they started looting their stores,” a Chibok resident reported.
Although the military is intensifying its effort in fighting the insurgents, Abubakar Elkanemi, shehu of Borno, in November said the people of the state are still under Boko Haram siege.
