September 18, (THEWILL) – Olanike Afolabi Akanni, a former House of Assembly lawmaker in Ekiti-State and society woman, Bolaji Oyedepo, otherwise known as Mama Kofoshi, rolled out the drums in celebration of the burial of their aged mother, Chief Mrs Dorcas Akanni, a prominent community leader in Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State. Chief Akanni who was the Iyalaje of Efon-Alaaye died a few weeks ago at the age of 91 after an age-related sickness.

The event started with a wake at the deceased’s compound in Iloro, Efon-Alaaye. It was followed by a church service at St Anglican Church, Idagba before her remains were interred. Fuji singer, Suleiman Atawewe was on the bandstand to thrill guests who traveled to Ekiti State to honour the lawmaker and her sister.

Mama Kofoshi, one of the children of the deceased dominated the social scene for almost three decades before relocating to Canada. She and her husband, Bode De Way were the king and queen of the social circle.

Their names were always in the mouths of musicians who sing their praises to the high heavens. One of the luxurious mansions owned by the couple in the Government Reservation Area of Lagos State is a haven where Nollywood actors shoot their movies.
