November 09, (THEWILL) – Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, is continuing his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury and is expected to return to action for Serie A leaders Napoli after the upcoming international break. This is according to an injury update provided on the club’s official website on Thursday.

Osimhen has been sidelined since injuring his right hamstring in an international friendly for Nigeria against Saudi Arabia on October 13. The 24-year-old forward was spotted in the stands as Napoli drew 1-1 with Union Berlin in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

According to Napoli, Osimhen carried out therapies and individual work on the pitch at the team’s training complex on Thursday, as he steps up his recovery. The club stated that if his rehab goes to plan, he should be available for selection again after the international break, starting with the away trip to Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta on November 25.

Last season’s Serie A top scorer has been sorely missed by Napoli, who are fourth in the standings. However, Rudi Garcia’s side have still managed to cope well, winning three and drawing two of their five matches without their talismanic striker.

Napoli will be hoping to have Osimhen back fit and firing as they look to defend their Scudetto title. His return after the international break could provide a timely boost as the season heads into a crucial period.
