The 22-year-old midfielder, on loan from Roma, was greeted with applause during a squad meeting ahead of the team’s upcoming fixture against Bologna.
Discharged from Florence’s Careggi hospital on Friday, Bove underwent critical medical intervention following his collapse during the December 1 match against Inter Milan. Medical professionals installed a defibrillator, with the possibility of its future removal contingent on additional medical assessments.
The young footballer’s future in professional football remains uncertain. Medical experts suggest that the presence of a defibrillator could potentially disqualify him from obtaining the mandatory medical certificate required for competitive sports in Italy. This situation echoes the experience of Christian Eriksen, who faced similar challenges after his cardiac incident during the 2021 European Championship. Eriksen was initially prohibited from playing in Italian football after receiving an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator but subsequently resumed his professional career with Manchester United.
Bove will not participate in Saturday’s afternoon training session at Fiorentina’s Viola Park training centre.
