West Ham manager, David Moyes, prioritised the upcoming Europa Conference League semi-final second leg and made nine changes to his team. This selection gamble backfired, as Brentford secured their fourth English Premier League win against the Hammers without their top scorer, Ivan Toney, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
The first goal came after 20 minutes when Mikkel Damsgaard intercepted a sloppy pass from Nayef Aguerd, leading to Bryan Mbeumo finding acres of space in the penalty area and firing the ball under Lukasz Fabianski.
