Update: Buhari Appoints Nsima Ekere As Managing Director, NDDC, Ndoma-Egba As Chairman, Others

Updated: LAGOS, JULY 21, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated a former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere as Managing Director of the lucrative Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba as the Chairman of the agency responsible for the development of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Their names were forwarded to the Senate Wednesday for confirmation.

In a letter dated July 18, and read by President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, at Thursday’s plenary, the president also sought the approval for 17 others as directors and members of the commission.

He indicated that the nominations were in line with provisions of Section 2(2) of the NDDC Act, 2000.

The other director nominees are Adjogbe Samuel (Delta), Executive Director (Project); Mene Derek (Rivers), Executive Director (Finance and Administration).

Proposed members are Donatus Enyinnah (Abia), Frank George (Akwa Ibom), Prof. Brambaifa Nelson (Bayelsa), Sylvester Nsa (Cross River) and Dr Ogaga Ifowodo (Delta).

Others are Uwuilekhue Saturday (Edo), Osita Izunaso (Imo), Olatokunbo Ajasin (Ondo), Harry Dabibi (Rivers), Benard Banfa (North Central) and Yahaya Mohammed (North-East).

Also nominated are Mustapha Dankadi (North-West), Igo Weli (Niger), Dr Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, Federal Ministry of Finance and Abdul-Kazeem Bayero, Ministry of Environment.

When confirmed, Ekere would take over from Mrs Ibim Semenitari who is presently acting as Managing Director.
