Bayern Munich - kane

October 04, (THEWILL) — Bayern Munich extended their flawless Bundesliga campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday.

Luis Diaz netted twice whilst Harry Kane contributed a goal for Vincent Kompany’s side, who now sit four points clear at the top of the table following Borussia Dortmund’s draw with RB Leipzig earlier in the day.

The visitors required just 15 seconds to break the deadlock when Serge Gnabry delivered a cross for Diaz to convert from close range.

Frankfurt believed they had restored parity through Jean-Matteo Bahoya in the 15th minute, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review identified a Ritsu Doan handball in the build-up. Kane’s deflected header had already struck the crossbar before that incident.

Bayern capitalised on their reprieve by doubling their advantage in the 27th minute. Joshua Kimmich threaded a pass to Diaz, who set up Kane to beat goalkeeper Kaua Santos with a low finish.

Gnabry came close on two occasions early in the second period, and Kane was denied by the woodwork again midway through the half.

The match was settled six minutes from full-time when Diaz completed his brace. The forward broke free from Robin Koch during a rapid counter-attack before firing past Santos at the near post to seal all three points.

Frankfurt remain without a win against the Bavarian side in this encounter, whilst Bayern continue to set the pace under their manager.

Kompany’s men have now recorded maximum points from their opening fixtures and hold a significant early-season advantage over their title rivals.
