June 26, (THEWILL) – Promising winger Joel Ideho, who recently received an invitation to join the Nigerian Flying Eagles squad, has caught the attention of Burnley, who are keen on acquiring his services during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Ideho’s contract with north London side, Arsenal, is set to expire in just four days, and with no new deal offered by the North London club, the winger is ready to embark on a new chapter in his career. Reports monitored by THEWILL suggest that Burnley have expressed interest in integrating Ideho into their Under-21 team and are hopeful that he will join the club in time for pre-season training.
However, the decision regarding his future remains uncertain as the Dutch-born Nigerian talent is carefully weighing the proposal from the English Premier League newcomers, leaving his potential transfer to Burnley hanging in the balance.
Furthermore, Ideho’s recent ankle injury, sustained during training shortly after the London derby against Crystal Palace’s development squad in March, kept him sidelined for the latter part of the 2022/2023 Premier League 2 season.
Consequently, he missed out on being named in Nigeria’s final squad for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup, despite attending the training camp in Abuja.
In addition to all of these, the possibility of him featuring in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was also dashed when it was discovered that his Nigerian passport had expired back in 2018.
