November 28, (THEWILL) – Burnley’s Premier League match against Tottenham has been postponed less than an hour before kick-off.
After heavy snowfall at Turf Moor, officials worked feverishly to clean the ground, but the game was called off immediately after the teams were announced.
In a statement via their Twitter handle, Burnley announced: “Due to concerns with the playing surface and surrounding areas, it’s been deemed that the game can’t go ahead safely.”
As THEWILL reported, Spurs were aiming to bounce back from their Europa Conference League humiliation at the hands of Slovenian underdogs MS Mura.
Apart from that game, the match between Manchester City and West Ham United is expected to still go ahead as conditions there are not as bad.
