December 10, (THEWILL) – Jorginho is expected to play through the pain barrier against Leeds United on Saturday, according to Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, but N’Golo Kante will still not be available.
The return of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner has been tempered by the losses of Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, and N’Golo Kante in recent weeks, as the Blues have dealt with a series of injuries that have impacted their results.
Chilwell tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) against Juventus in the Champions League in November, while Kante twisted his knee in the same game. Chalobah injured his hamstring against Watford earlier this month in the Premier League.
Mateo Kovacic, a long-term absentee, was on the edge of returning to training this week after a hamstring injury, only to test positive for COVID-19 a day later, as THEWILL reported.
