April 12, (THEWILL) – Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze, is in contention for the Spanish La Liga goal of the week for matchday 28 after his stunning performance in Villarreal’s 3-2 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 21-year-old was responsible for the brace that secured the victory for the Yellow Submarine. His first came in the 39th minute when he dribbled past a defender and beat Thibaut Courtois to restore parity. His second, which is in the running for goal of the week, came in the 80th minute when he cut to his left and fired a curling shot to the top left corner of the net.
Chukwueze’s brilliant goal will compete with strikes from Marcos Acuna of Sevilla, Fran Garcia of Rayo Vallecano, and Abdessamad Ezzalzouli of Osasuna for the goal of the week award.
On Wednesday, Real Madrid will face Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, while Villarreal, after notching their first-ever League double over the champions, will play Real Valladolid in La Liga on Saturday.
