August 13, (THEWILL) – AC Milan ended their pre-season campaign on a high note, defeating Novara 4-2 in a friendly match on Sunday, with new signing, Samuel Chukwueze, breaking the deadlock with an early goal.
After a comfortable 4-0 win on Saturday, Milan fielded a mostly rotated squad against the Serie C side. Despite the changes, Milan quickly took control of the match. Noah Okafor added to Chukwueze’s goal to give Milan a 2-0 lead in the opening 15 minutes. Niccolo Corti helped Novara pull one back before half-time off a deflected cross.
Milan restored their two-goal advantage early in the second half courtesy of a fine solo effort from Davide Calabria. However, Novara refused to go away quietly, as substitute Luca Prinelli scored to cut the deficit to one with 20 minutes remaining.
It was left to Lorenzo Colombo to re-establish Milan’s goal cushion, volleying home emphatically in the closing stages. The match capped off a successful pre-season for Milan as they now turn their focus to the upcoming Serie A campaign.
The 4-2 win displayed Milan’s attacking potency even without their first-choice lineup. The club will be eager to carry this goal-scoring form into the new season as they look to reclaim the Scudetto from Italian champions Napoli.
