August 05, (THEWILL) – Despite the reported transfer record set by Manchester City in executing the move of English attacking midfielder Jack Grealish to the Etihad from English Premier League side Aston Villa, the Cityzens are still bent on their long-term goal of bringing in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
As THEWILL reported Jack Grealish is undergoing a medical ahead of becoming the most expensive Englishman of all time when he completes his British record £100million transfer to North West England ahead of an official announcement of the move.
It came about after City reached an agreement with Villa on Wednesday as Pep Guardiola moved closer to filling the void created after David Silva left the Etihad Stadium in June of 2019. The huge outlay was what it cost to bring Grealish and City believed it was worth it.
But, attention will now turn to getting Kane into the squad of the current League champions. It is another of Guardiola’s objectives in his quest for a complete attack-defense packed squad to challenge on all fronts, especially after losing the glorious target of an unprecedented quadruple last season.
In the incoming season, Kane’s status as a world-class forward is targeted to keep City victorious especially after the departure of Sergio Aguero to La Liga giants Barcelona. And, there is increasing confidence at the Etihad that the Tottenham captain will follow his Three Lions teammate Grealish to Manchester’s blue half of the EPL.
Part of this confidence derives from Kane’s own determined stance to force through a move. As THEWILL reported, the 28-year-old failed to report for pre-season training this week, a decision that appears to underline his strong desire to leave Spurs this summer in his clear pursuit of silverware elsewhere.
However, with transfer money rising up to £100m for Grealish, City must be expected to cough out a lot more, upwards of about £150m for Daniel Levy, the President of Spurs, to consider an offer worthy of their own valuation of Kane. But, City have shown that money is no consequence in the long run.
