SAN FRANCISCO, July 30, (THEWILL) – The over two-month-old medical vacation of President Muhammadu Buhari was in the global spotlight on Sunday as international news organisation, Cable News Network, CNN, made a question out of the President’s absence from Nigeria.
In its foreign affairs show taggged ‘The Global Public Square’, GPS, anchored by Fareed Zakaria, CNN asked: “The head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?”
It proceeded to single out the option with the name: Nigeria, out of the others namely: Saudi Arabia, Cuba, and Syria, as the correct answer.
THEWILL recalls that President Buhari left Nigeria for the United Kingdom on May 7. He however left a letter to the National Assembly transmitting powers to his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo who has since been acting as president.
