Conte
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte

May 18, (THEWILL) – Antonio Conte is expected to earn a £2.5 million bonus, if Tottenham Hotspur finishes in the English Premier League’s top four and make it to the prestigious UEFA Champions League next season.

Spurs were ninth on the EPL table when the Italian arrived in November, and he has overseen a steady development that has exploded in recent weeks, with victories over Arsenal and Burnley propelling them back to fourth position.

They are currently two points ahead of city rivals Arsenal with just one game remaining, and thanks to their vastly superior goal difference, even a draw against bottom-placed Norwich on the final day of the season would be enough to secure fourth place.

Arsenal are 15 goals behind and will need a miracle from Norwich to finish fourth, while they will have to get maximum points in their own final match against a Frank Lampard-led Everton struggling to avoid relegation.

Conte is set to earn £2.5 million if Spurs finish fourth. The hope is that playing in the UCL would persuade Conte to stay beyond this summer, and that the competition’s attraction will help them recruit some of the manager’s favourite targets. Conte is also looking for a number of defenders and a few strikers, with the intention of offloading a number of marginal players to raise funds.
