October 06, (THEWILL) – Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen’s Italian club, SSC Napoli, has distanced themselves from a doll bearing resemblance to their player.
The doll, called “Cicciobello Bomber”, appears to copy Osimhen’s likeness while wearing Napoli’s kit. In a statement on Thursday, Napoli clarified that the doll is an unofficial product, not authorised by the club.
Cicciobello is a line of Italian dolls made by Sebino Bambole and Giochi Preziosi. This latest controversy comes after Napoli’s TikTok account posted a video appearing to mock Osimhen, leading to what was considered an unrelated resignation of their social media manager.
Additionally, reports monitored by THEWILL from Italy indicate Osimhen has relinquished penalty duties for Napoli, following the controversial video. The 24-year-old has since expressed affection for the city and club of Naples to debunk claims that he is considering his future elsewhere.
Osimhen has scored five goals in seven league matches this season. His Napoli contract expires in 2025, with ongoing talks to extend the deal and value. This summer, Saudi club Al Hilal bid $147 million and $1 million per week for the striker but he spurned it remain in Naples.
