Council Polls: Benue Assembly Approves N6.6bn For BSIEC

September 04, (THEWILL) – The Benue State House of Assembly has approved the sum of N6,644,778,900, for the conduct of local government elections in the State.

The House gave the approval on Wednesday, during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Chief Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh.

The Governor had in a correspondence, titled “Submission of 2024 Supplementary Budget Estimates of N6,644, 778, 900.00”, towards the Conduct of Local Government Elections in Fiscal Year 2024, which was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, seeking the approval for the conduct of the October 5th Council elections.

The House in a unanimous voice vote gave a nod to the supplementary budget.

The Supplementary Budget reflects Governor Alia’s administration’s commitment to ensuring hitch-free and credible elections for Benue State.

Meanwhile, political parties have screened and cleared aspirants in readiness for the October 5th council polls, to meet the Supreme Court order that all councils must be manned by elected executives across the country.
