
June 04, (THEWILL) – The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu, has expressed confidence that the state’s economy will experience a significant boost through his administration’s agro-industrial initiatives.
The governor made this statement while receiving a 7-year strategic plan on the development of cocoa, coffee, and oil palm from critical stakeholders.
According to the governor, “Let me assure you of my administration’s willingness to expedite the passage of the new produce law, so as to further strengthen agro business in the state.
“It is important to note that this singular activity will ensure that the rest of the world see us as very serious business people with strategic and workable plans to ensure smooth business environment in the agro industrial sector”, Governor Otu said.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation, Johnson Ebokpo, highlighted the administration’s achievements in the agro sector, including the development of the 7-year agro-development plan.
“As we open our state for private sector investment, let me reaffirm that our ministry is positioned to building positive synergy with other global agro players for the greater good of our dear state”, he said.
Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo, a former member of the House of Representatives, praised the governor’s initiative, describing him as a “pace setter”.
The success of the plan will depend on effective implementation, stakeholder engagement, and addressing potential challenges. If successful, the initiative could have a significant positive impact on the state’s economy and the lives of its citizens.
