February 25, (THEWILL) – After Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte’s shocking statements that his future at north London was in question, chairman Daniel Levy is preparing to hold crunch talks with him.
As THEWILL reported, Conte repeatedly highlighted his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may need to come to an end after Spurs’ 1-0 loss to Burnley on Wednesday, their fourth in their last five games, as well as implying that the team’s troubles were down to the players’ lack of quality.
This has led Levy to seek to ensure that his newest high-profile hire does not end in shambles, and he is bracing himself for face-to-face meetings with Conte to get to the core of the Italian’s dissatisfaction.
Conte has pleased Levy since his arrival, and the chairman believes Conte is the perfect guy for the position, but he understands that keeping the Italian happy is not always simple.
There are no intentions to fire the manager, and Conte is not anticipated to resign in the middle of the season. Managing director Fabio Paratici also supports Conte and Levy over the players, who were not thrilled with their manager’s remarks after the loss to Burnley.
Conte’s statement that “managers change, but the results stay the same” came only days after claiming that this Spurs team was one of the greatest he had ever worked with, and some in the dressing room are frustrated by Conte’s ability to go from hot to cold almost instantly.
Some in the locker room, though, believe Conte was merely attempting to entice summer investment by putting public pressure on the club’s hierarchy.
There are strong suspicions that Conte will leave the club next season, but Levy is determined to keep the Italian happy and will endeavour to provide him with the assurances he seeks in the goal of preserving the club’s peace and keeping the Italian longer.
