BEVERLY HILLS, July 20, (THEWILL) – In what can be described as an act of social responsibility, officers of the Nigerian Army, under 7 Division in Operation Lafiya Dole, are contributing their quota towards national development.
The officers have engaged themselves in massive filling of pot holes and extensive clearing of bushes to ensure security of persons, goods and services along various routes within its area of operation in Borno State.
In the same vein, troops of 21 Brigade have also intensified efforts to fill bad portions along Road Bule leading from Yobe to Darajamel.
The formation’s effort is in line with the Division’s overall intention of denying the Boko Haram Terrorists freedom of action and facilitate unhindered movement along the routes.
According to a statement released by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations (Division 7), Lieutenant Colonel Kingsley Samuel, the gesture was to ensure safety of the roads for people.
“The gesture is to ensure safety of the road for troops, civilian vehicles and humanitarian relief trucks,” the statement read.
“Already, troops of 21 Brigade had earlier laboured vigorously and successfully filled several other pot holes with concrete along Road Banki Junction through Frigi up to Pulka and Gwoza.
“Simlarly, troops of 192 Battalion of 7 Division Garrison in conjunction with Armed Forces Strike Force Battalion and locals in Delwa carried out road shoulders clearance of vegetation along Road Delwa/Bulabulin.
“Similarly, troops of 103 Battalion have fixed pot holes and are engaged in clearance of vegetation along Road Kunduga to Bama axis.
“The Division has continued to support the formations with logistics and others necessary assistance to favourably accomplish the tasks.”
