March 11, (THEWILL) – In what is becoming a standard occurrence for the record-breaking shooter, Steph Curry hit another career milestone on Thursday night.

Curry became the 49th player in NBA history to reach 20,000 points scored in the Warriors’ 113-102 win over the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena.

He did so by scoring 34 points against the Nuggets, completing a stunning comeback victory over a very solid Denver club that had Golden State’s number all season. Not only that, but the shot was a trademark Curry shot from the court’s logo paint.

Curry spoke after the game about his latest achievement, emphasising the necessity of maintaining perspective: “This whole year has been a steady reminder of how blessed I am to play this game at the highest level, to be healthy, to still enjoy the game at the level that I do.

“And I don’t see that changing anytime soon. But also a reminder of all the work you put in, everybody who has helped you get to this point. A wise man once said, ‘celebrate all the little moments that happen.’

“When you say that you’ve done something that only 49 people have done at this level, that’s pretty crazy, so I’m going to enjoy it for sure. They gave me the game ball afterward. I’m going to take that home and keep pushing, it’s good motivation to keep going.”

This latest achievement is one of the Golden State Warriors’ shooting star’s many this season, following his claim of the 3-pointer record, which he continues to extend. It is just one of many brilliant records on his Hall of Fame résumé.

There is no way he will stop at 20,000 points either. Curry, now at 20,006 points, is now ranked 49th all-time in NBA scoring, but is 18,381 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the top place.

The 33-year-old may not surmount Abdul-Jabbar, but if he plays for another seven or eight seasons, he may easily crack the top 10 ranking of overall NBA career points.
