February 13, (THEWILL) – In a 1-1 draw with Atalanta in Bergamo, Juventus were disappointing as they failed to take advantage of a multitude of chances that came their way to take all three points.
Massimiliano Allegri’s team had plenty of chances throughout the game, but were unable to convert them and were left with only one point, which was salvaged late on thanks to a Danilo header.
In the first 15 minutes, Juventus enjoyed a flurry of good chances. First, Marco Sportiello saved a penalty kick from Dusan Vlahovic in the third minute, before the Serbian had another fine chance in the 12th minute that went just wide of the post.
Paulo Dybala did well to create an opportunity for himself in the 14th minute, but his shot went just wide of the left post. The rest of the first half was a bit of a slog, with neither team having much of a chance to speak of.
The second half began with the same vigour as the first, with Marten de Roon coming close to giving the hosts the lead right at the opening. Sportiello came up big again 10 minutes later to deny Juve another wonderful chance to take the lead.
Atalanta took the lead in the 76th minute when Ruslan Malinovsky scored on the volley, giving Wojciech Szczesny no opportunity to save it. With only five minutes remaining, Hans Hateboer came close to doubling Atalanta’s lead but was stopped by the crossbar.
A Paulo Dybala corner was whipped in and met by the head of Brazilian defender Danilo to rescue a point for Allegri’s side just when all seemed lost for the Bianconeri.
