SAN FRANCISCO, October 10, (THEWILL) – Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Engr. Babachir Lawal, has flayed the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Delta State, for its tactlessness in resolving the crisis in the party.
Lawal who was the former National Vice-Chairman, North-East, of the party, and a close confidant of President Muhammadu Buhari, gave the charge at a peace meeting among the various factions of the party in Abuja.
Lawal who initiated and presided at the meeting charged the Minister of State, (Petroleum), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, who was present, to take charge of the party in the state.
“You have to take charge of the party, Kachikwu. We cannot leave the party in the hands of those people,” Lawal told Kachikwu.
“Peace and progress cannot be held down because of a few people. How many are they?”
Kachikwu, in response, promised the SGF and the stakeholders that he would from henceforth, take his position and provide leadership and unite the party in the state.
Present at the meeting were party elders from the state including Senator Francis Okpozo, Chief Great Ogboru, Chief Ayiri Emami, Victor Ochei, Temi Harriman, Halims Agoda, Chief Adolo Okotie-Eboh, Richard Odibo, Chief Hyacinth Enuha, among many others.
However, the factional Chairman of the party, Prophet Erue Jones and the party’s 2015 governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, were absent.
The National Working Committee, NWC, was also represented at the meeting by Engr. Segun Oni.
THEWILL recalls that the crisis in the party started about 18 months ago when the Jones executive was declared illegal upon a court action filed by Okotie-Eboh.
