SAN FRANCISCO, October 10, (THEWILL) – Judges in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday tactically abandoned their various duty posts to protest the arrest of their colleagues in different parts of the country on allegations of corruption.
THEWILL gathered that some of the judges, in solidarity with their colleagues, choose to attend a meeting at the FCT High Court in Maitama where a position was to be taken on the issue.
The Department of State Security (DSS), had carried out numerous arrests of Judges between Friday night and Saturday morning claiming to have found incriminating documents and foreign currencies in the homes of the affected judicial officers.
Journalists who besieged the Magistrate court located at the Life Camp in Abuja to cover the arraignment of the arrested judges were however disappointed as the case neither came up nor did the judges appear.
The Service has however released the arrested judges on Monday night.
