April 22, (THEWILL) – Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 4-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, to climb to the top of the Bundesliga standings.
First-half goals from Jude Bellingham, Donyell Malen and Mats Hummels gave the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead before Malen completed the rout with his brace in the second half.
Dortmund started the game brightly and took the lead in the 19th minute when Bellingham fired home from the edge of the box. The home side doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Malen latched onto a through ball and slotted home past the Frankfurt goalkeeper. Hummels headed home a third before the break.
After the interval, Dortmund continued to create chances and Malen added his second goal of the game in the 66th minute. The win moves Dortmund atop the table after Bayern failed to maintain their lead, falling to a 3-1 defeat against Mainz earlier in the day.
In their next match, Dortmund will seek to maintain their lead when they visit VfL Bochum on Friday while Frankfurt host Augsburg the following day.
