December 07, (THEWILL) – Canadian rapper and producer, Aubrey Graham, better known as Drake, has withdrawn from the 2021 Grammy Awards consideration.
THEWILL writes that Drake got two nominations in this year’s Grammys; Best Rap Performance for ‘Way 2 Sexy’ and Best Rap Album for ‘Certified Lover Boy’.
According to available information, the request to withdraw came from Drake’s management, which the Recording Academy accepted.
This development means there will now be only four nominees in each of the affected categories.
As of the time of filing this report, the four-time Grammy Award winner has not issued a statement concerning the withdrawal.
THEWILL recalls that Drake had been critical of the Grammys as he kicked against the nomination process last year.
