SAN FRANCISCO, November 16, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s senior national men’s team, the Super Eagles, have all tested negative for COVID-19 ahead of Tuesday’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) reverse fixture qualifier against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

It is the second time in five days that the Super Eagles would test negative for the virus. This now clears them for the game according to COVID-19 protocols in place by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) guidelines.

On Monday morning, team squad and management flew out of Nigeria at about 9:20AM. Their chartered flight from Benin City, Edo State, to Freetown, Sierra Leone left without Victor Osimhen on board. The Napoli forward left camp earlier on Sunday due to a shoulder injury which rules him out of contention.

The Super Eagles will seek to redeem themselves after the shambolic second half performance in the Friday, November 13 first leg that saw them throw away a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 at home to Sierra Leone.
