November 04, (THEWILL) – Edu Gaspar will depart Arsenal Football Club to join a group of teams under Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, the club confirmed on Monday. The former Arsenal midfielder, who was part of the 2003-04 unbeaten English Premier League season, has served as technical director since 2019.

The Brazilian executive’s influence extended across Arsenal’s men’s, women’s and youth divisions since 2022. Working closely with manager, Mikel Arteta, Edu helped transform Arsenal into English Premier League title contenders over the past two seasons through strategic recruitment and structural changes.

“Arsenal will always remain in my heart,” Edu said through club media channels. “I have loved working with excellent colleagues in the men’s, women’s and youth teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend. Now it is time to look for a different challenge.”

His next role will involve overseeing operations across multiple clubs owned by Marinakis, including Greek side, Olympiacos and Portuguese team, Rio Ave, alongside EPL club, Nottingham Forest.

During Edu’s tenure, Arsenal returned to the UEFA Champions League and established themselves among England’s top clubs again through smart transfer dealings and youth development, while maintaining strong links to their historical values.
