The London derby between Chelsea and Spurs is a rematch of the 2015 final, which the Blues won 2-0 thanks to goals from John Terry and Diego Costa.

Liverpool has won the competition eight times, the last time was in 2012, while Arsenal has not won since 1993. Defending Champions Manchester City, who had won the League Cup for the previous four years in a row, were knocked out in the fourth round by West Ham United.

Liverpool came from behind to level the game 3-3 after 90 minutes before winning 5-4 on penalties, with young Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher stopping two spot-kicks before Diogo Jota scored the game-winning goal.

Chelsea defeated Brentford with two late goals — a Pontus Jansson own goal and a signature Jorginho penalty – to go to the final four.

Tottenham overcame West Ham 2-1 in their quarter-final meeting, with goals from Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura either side of a Jarrod Bowen goal, while Arsenal beat Sunderland 5-1 on Tuesday night thanks to an Eddie Nketiah hat-trick.

Spurs have not won the League Cup since beating Chelsea 2-1 in 2008, with goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Jonathan Woodgate helping them to the trophy.
