November 07, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Football Federation have unveiled the 23-player squad that will represent the Super Eagles in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
The roster features a balanced blend of experience and youth, with interim manager, Augustine Eguavoen, retaining the core of the squad that featured in September and October’s international fixtures. Three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders and seven forwards have been summoned for the crucial double-header against Benin and Rwanda.
Notable inclusions in the squad are Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Chelsea academy graduate, Ola Aina, who will look to add to their senior international caps. Other England-based players selected include Fulham’s Calvin Bassey and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi. Additionally, the NFF have brought Reading Academy product, Gabriel Osho, into the fold, hoping to cap-tie the defender following his withdrawal from the March internationals due to injury.
Experienced striker, Umar Sadiq of Real Sociedad returns to the squad, while uncapped Nasarawa United centre-back, Victor Collins, has earned his maiden senior call-up. The Super Eagles will face Benin’s Cheetahs on 14th November in Abidjan, before hosting Rwanda’s Wasps four days later in Uyo.
With a mix of seasoned campaigners and talented youngsters, the Nigeria national team will be aiming to secure their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations through these crucial qualifying fixtures against their West and Central African opponents.
