Chidera Ejuke

April 17, (THEWILL) – Super Eagles star, Chidera Ejuke, is back in training following a lengthy layoff due to injury.

The left-winger sustained a knee injury during Hertha Berlin’s friendly match with The Villages FC in January, forcing him to miss the last 13 Bundesliga games and the Super Eagles’ qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau last month.

Before his injury, Ejuke was in the matchday squad 15 times, starting 9 games, and coming off the bench on 6 occasions. He also registered 3 assists within that period. Ejuke, who joined Hertha Berlin on a loan deal from Russian side, CSKA Moscow, last summer, was pictured in training on Monday as the club continues to battle to avoid relegation.

Hertha Berlin are currently bottom of the Bundesliga table with 22 points. Ejuke’s return to training, therefore, is a welcome development for the Bundesliga club, on the one hand, and the Super Eagles, on the other. The 23-year-old’s pace and trickery on the flanks have been missed, and he will be hoping to make an impact in the remaining games of the season.

Fans of the German side and Super Eagles’ watchers will also be looking forward to seeing him in action for Hertha and Nigeria in future games.
