April 04, (THEWILL) – Fulham striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, has been handed an eight-game suspension by the England Football Association (FA), for pushing referee, Chris Kavanagh, during last month’s FA Cup match against Manchester United.
The incident occurred after teammate, Willian’s dismissal, prompting Mitrovic to confront Kavanagh, resulting in a red card. As THEWILL reported, an initial three-game suspension was deemed insufficient by the FA, who have now imposed a longer punishment on the Serbian international.
Mitrovic has already served one game of the ban, and Fulham manager, Marco Silva, has also been fined and handed a touchline ban. The Cottagers will miss Mitrovic’s services in their upcoming fixtures against West Ham, Everton, Leeds, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Leicester, leaving him with just three potential appearances before the end of the season.
Mitrovic has apologised to Kavanagh for his actions, but maintained that he was attempting to get the referee’s attention.
