
October 11, (THEWILL) – The English Football Association is gathering information about a late altercation between Gabriel Magalhaes and Jordan Henderson, during Arsenal’s victory against Liverpool on Sunday.
The incident occurred after referee Michael Oliver gave Arsenal a penalty for a foul on Gabriel Jesus by Thiago Alcantara. Following the incident, the referee met with Arsenal and Liverpool managers, Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp.
According to FA and PGMOL protocols, the referee met with both Henderson and Gabriel after the game as well, and the FA is currently evaluating the referee’s report. As THEWILL reported, the FA announced that it was investigating the incident on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Association said: “We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident.”
After the review process, which is expected to take several days, the FA will determine whether or not to launch a thorough inquiry.
