October 10, (THEWILL) – The English Football Association is looking into an incident that happened on the field during Sunday’s 3-2 victory for Arsenal over Liverpool.
In a hectic second half, players from both teams engaged in a heated argument. Managers Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp were informed of the incident both during and after the game by Michael Oliver, the referee.
In a statement after the tie, the FA noted: “We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident.”
After the game, reporters questioned Klopp about the incident, but he said he could not comment because the FA had already been notified about it.
Gabriel Martinelli’s goal in the opening minute and two goals from Bukayo Saka helped Arsenal win 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium. Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino of Liverpool had twice tied the score, but the Gunners persevered and found the extra gear to nick a win and retake the top spot.
