August 17, (THEWILL) – The most successful club in Nigeria, Enyimba FC, has gone global, as the nine-time Nigerian league champions have joined English Premier League side, Everton, to have Stake as their new shirt sponsor.
Enyimba announced the multi-million naira, multi-year deal in grand style this week. Stake is a pioneering online casino known for its innovative platform and extensive gaming options. In addition to its partnerships in football, Stake also has deals with high-profile athletes, such UFC Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya, music superstar, Drake and Manchester City legend, Kun Aguero, as part of their team of brand ambassadors.
The shirt sponsorship comes amidst sweeping changes at Enyimba, spearheaded by new club chairman, Nwankwo Kanu and Abia State governor, Alex Otti. Since assuming office, Governor Otti has made reforming Enyimba to return it to continental glory a top priority.
The financial injection from the Stake deal will boost Enyimba’s fortunes, as the club seeks to reestablish itself as a force in Africa. Enyimba remains the only Nigerian club to have won the CAF Champions League twice.
The People’s Elephant will face their first test later this month against Libyan side, Al Ahli Benghazi, in the Champions League first round. The draw took place this week at CAF headquarters in Cairo. Enyimba will travel to Benghazi on August 20 before hosting the return leg in Aba a week later.
