March 26, (THEWILL) – The battle for Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga has begun, with English Premier League sides Manchester United, Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester City, all reportedly interested in the 20-year-old midfielder.
Celta Vigo’s president, Carlos Mourino, has confirmed Veiga’s likely exit in the summer, leaving the EPL clubs ready to compete for his signature. With United potentially set to lose players including Fred, their interest in Veiga is particularly keen, and the other three clubs also hope to reinforce their squads in the summer.
Veiga’s transfer could cost around £35 million, and super agent, Pini Zahavi, is guiding the youngster, which has caught the attention of Manchester City and Liverpool. United, however, is leading the chase, having sent scouts to watch him play six times this season, according to reports on the midfielder.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, the battle for some of Europe’s most promising young talents is heating up. Just like Mourino, many club presidents are preparing themselves for the inevitability of losing some of their best players.
