February 24, (THEWILL) – The Europa League last 16 draw has been announced, with Manchester United set to face Real Betis and Arsenal taking on Sporting Lisbon.
THEWILL recalls that United secured their spot in the next round after coming from behind to defeat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in their play-off match on Thursday evening.
The tie against Real Betis will mark the third time that Erik ten Hag’s side will face Spanish opposition in the tournament this season, having already played Real Sociedad in the group stages. Meanwhile, Arsenal will face a Sporting Lisbon side, who recorded a draw and a win against their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season.
Other notable fixtures include six-time champions Sevilla playing Fenerbahce, Juventus taking on Freiburg, and Roma meeting Real Sociedad. The matches are scheduled to take place on March 9 and 16.
