August 29, (THEWILL) – English Premier League side Everton have completed the signing of Portuguese striker Beto from Serie A club Udinese, the Merseyside team announced on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old penned a four-year contract with the Toffees for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £25.8 million. Beto arrives at Goodison Park with Everton still searching for their first point this season, having lost all three of their opening EPL matches without scoring a goal. The Portuguese forward will be tasked with bolstering the Toffees’ misfiring attack as they look to turn around their poor start under manager Sean Dyche.
The striker began his professional career with Portuguese club Portimonense in 2019, scoring 11 goals. This caught the attention of Udinese, who signed Beto on loan in 2021, and he scored another 11 goals before making the move permanent in 2022.
Last season, the 25-year-old notched 10 Serie A goals for the Italian side. Everton had previously tried to sign the striker back in January, with Beto saying the Toffees’ persistence convinced him to make the move this time around.
Everton visit League One side Doncaster in the EFL Carabao Cup on Wednesday, before travelling to Bramall Lane on Saturday, to face Sheffield United in the EPL.
