December 26, (THEWILL) — Jean-Louis Gasset, the veteran French football coach, has died at the age of 72, his former club, Montpellier, confirmed on Friday. The information released did not indicate a cause of death.
The Ivory Coast sacked Gasset during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after the hosts suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea in their final group match. However, they qualified for the knockout stages on merit among the best third-placed teams and went on to win the trophy under Gasset’s assistant, Emerse Fae.
