October 24, (THEWILL) – Former Morocco international footballer, Abdelaziz Barrada, has died aged 35, according to announcements from two prominent French clubs on Thursday.
The midfielder, who represented Morocco 28 times between 2012 and 2015, began his professional career at Paris Saint-Germain before establishing himself in Spanish football with Getafe. His international record includes four goals for Morocco, including a notable strike during the 2012 London Olympics in a 2-2 draw against Honduras.
Paris Saint-Germain shared their “great sadness” at the news via social media platform X, whilst Olympique Marseille posted “Rest in peace Abdelaziz”. Barrada had significant spells at both clubs during his career in French football.
Following his initial departure from PSG, Barrada’s career path led him through several clubs, including a stint at Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi. He later returned to France with Marseille in 2014, where he spent two seasons before moving back to compete in Gulf region competitions.
The French-born player’s versatility on the pitch and contributions to both club and international football marked him out during his career.
