May 08, (THEWILL) – In Saturday’s dismal defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, Bruno Fernandes agreed with Manchester United fans who said the team was “not fit to wear the shirt”
As THEWILL reported, United were defeated 4-0 at the Amex Stadium, and it is possible that they were fortunate not to have conceded more against a Brighton side who had not won at home since 2022.
It is turning out to be United’s worst Premier League season ever, with the club already having conceded the most goals in a single season and guaranteed to fall short of the previous low point total.
As an abysmal second half unfolded, United fans turned on their squad, yelling, “You’re not fit to wear the shirt.” And, in a post-match interview, star midfielder Fernandes expressed no reservations about that conclusion.
Owing to the embarrassing result, the Portuguese said: “I include myself in that. What we did today, what I did today, was not enough to be in the Manchester United shirt, and I accept that.”
