March 28, (THEWILL) – Bruno Fernandes has publicly disagreed with his superstar Portugal teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, about the impact of new Head Coach, Roberto Martinez.
While Ronaldo has praised Martinez for bringing a “breath of fresh air” to the team, Fernandes sees it as simply a transition period with new ideas to assimilate. Martinez’s style of coaching is known for being attack-focused, but often at the expense of sloppy defending, which is a stark contrast to the style of Portugal’s previous coach, Fernando Santos.

Fernandes and Ronaldo have a history of playing together, including a 15-month spell at Manchester United, where they failed to reach their best form together. However, Ronaldo has previously denied any tensions between them, stating that their relationship was “excellent.”
