
November 08, (THEWILL) – Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi has appointed Mika Lönnström to guide the team’s technical direction.
The Finnish tactician joins the Nigeria Premier Football League side amid efforts to strengthen their position in the competition.
During the formal introduction in Makurdi, club chairman Philip Nongu stated, “We are here at this important event to introduce to the Benue community, the players, as well as sports journalists, the newly appointed head coach, Mr Lönnström.”
The chairman confirmed that the coach will collaborate with existing technical staff members to enhance the team’s competitive standing.
The chairman emphasised the board’s dedication to improving the club’s current league position, describing it as “temporary.”
Technical adviser, Daniel Amokachi, also praised the appointment.
He noted, “Mika Lönnström is a man of pedigree; his working ethic will help us a lot. In modern football, you must have young players who would work tirelessly.”
Amokachi indicated plans to develop young talent within the squad before the transfer window opens.
In his response, the new coach pledged his commitment to advancing the team’s objectives.
