BEVERLY HILLS, CA, NOVEMBER 04, (THEWILL) – The 25-floor iconic Great Nigeria House located in the Marina District of Lagos Island has been razed by fire which witnesses said started early Monday morning before employees arrived for work.
Emergency personnel said the fire started from the first floor of the property which houses the Great Nigeria Insurance Company alongside banks and several other businesses.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA); the Police; Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) deployed personnel to contain the inferno.
The fire service department said no lives were lost but that several valuable assets were destroyed by the fire which reportedly started a few minutes past 6am local time.
